Terms of Service
Effective October 1, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Yasser Boutarf (“we”, “us”), the developer of Lulu. By creating an account or using the Lulu app or learnlulu.com, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Lulu.
What Lulu Is
Lulu helps you learn spoken Arabic dialects with short video clips, transcripts, word explanations, review and lessons. We keep improving Lulu, so features may change, and we may add, limit or remove features at any time.
Who Can Use Lulu
You must be at least 13 years old to use Lulu. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian’s permission, and they agree to these terms for you.
Your Account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to your email, Apple or Google sign-in secure. Tell us at support@learnlulu.com if you think someone else has used your account. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app.
Subscriptions and Payments
- Lulu is free to use with limits. Lulu Premium is an optional subscription, offered monthly or yearly, that removes those limits and adds features such as spaced-repetition review.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and length unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for.
- If we offer a free trial, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; we cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves.
- If we change subscription prices, we will tell you in advance, and Apple will ask for your consent where required.
Videos and Third-Party Content
The videos in Lulu belong to their creators and are played through YouTube’s embedded player. Lulu does not host, download or own them, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google. By using Lulu you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Lulu only shows videos that are publicly available on YouTube and that YouTube allows to be embedded, so they follow YouTube’s own content rules. We do not create or review every video, videos may become unavailable at any time, and we are not responsible for their content. If you find a clip offensive, inappropriate or wrong, tap the report button (the flag under the video) and choose a reason. We look at every report and may remove the clip from Lulu.
Translations and Explanations
Transcripts, translations, word explanations and pronunciations in Lulu are produced with the help of AI and automated tools. They are meant to help you learn and can contain mistakes, so do not rely on them where accuracy matters, such as legal, medical or official situations.
Using Lulu Fairly
When you use Lulu, including the feedback board, you agree not to:
- post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that invades someone’s privacy;
- impersonate others or share someone else’s personal information;
- spam, scrape, overload or try to break or reverse engineer the app or its servers;
- get around usage limits or access Lulu by automated means;
- use Lulu to build a competing product or dataset.
You keep ownership of the feedback you post, and you give us permission to display it in Lulu and to use it to improve Lulu. We may remove posts or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Our Rights
Lulu, including its design, the Lulu cat, our word data and lessons, and our software, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use Lulu for your own learning under these terms.
Ending These Terms
You can stop using Lulu and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop offering Lulu. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as disclaimers and limits of liability, continue after that.
Disclaimers
Lulu is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that Lulu will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that you will reach a particular level of Arabic.
Limits of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim relating to Lulu is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Lulu in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Yasser Boutarf resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
App Store Terms
If you downloaded Lulu from Apple’s App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Lulu or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual-property claims. If Lulu fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US embargo and are not on any US list of prohibited parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of Lulu must also follow the App Store’s Usage Rules.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and if a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Lulu afterwards means you accept the updated terms.
